Your November Activity & Thanksgiving Plan
As the temperatures drop and the days get shorter, it’s easy to let fitness slide. But November doesn’t have to derail your routine.
This time of year is actually the perfect opportunity to shift from “all-or-nothing” thinking to small consistent habits that keep your body strong and your energy steady. If getting outside feels harder, a brisk walk after lunch during the warmest part of the day, a few sets of bodyweight squats while dinner cooks, or light stretching before bed can make a big difference. On cold or rainy days, keep an indoor movement plan: a simple routine of marching in place, using light dumbbells, or following a quick online workout. You can even do this in front of your favorite television show.
And then there’s Thanksgiving, a day where calories can add up fast. You don’t need to skip your favorite foods; you just need a little strategy. Start the morning with movement, even if it’s 10 minutes. Eat a balanced breakfast so you don’t arrive at the meal starving. When it’s time to fill your plate, think in thirds: 1/3 lean protein (turkey), 1/3 veggies, and 1/3 for the foods you love most. Slow down while eating and you’ll enjoy it more and naturally eat less. And if you can, go for a relaxed walk afterward. It supports digestion and helps you feel refreshed instead of sluggish.
November is about finding balance by moving your body, staying consistent with your goals, and still enjoying the season. So stay active, feel good, and greet December with confidence instead of regret.
